Bass Lake - Linked - Deadline 8/14

So the original deadline was mid July, but I have been a traveling fool, so that has long passed by. The OC group has over thirty guys paid up in full already, we have none. Time to get this pulled together! Here's the deal:

Bass Lake - Linked Cycling Retreat
October 15-17th
Activities: Riding, wakeboarding, hiking.....etc
Cost is $175 (INCLUDES EVERYTHING WHILE THERE)
Examples are: House rental, cleaning fees after we are gone, food, boat fuel, etc.....

WE HAVE LIMITED SPOTS. Get signed up by paying up. You can get me a check, or even better option would be to pay through paypal. Linked has its own paypal account to pay into here: www.paypal.com and The account is under ryan@linkedcycling.com. Getting paid up in paypal will accomplish your sign up.

October is the best time of the year to be in Bass Lake in my opinion. The weather is usually perfect, water in lake still warm with nobody else on the lake, and of course lots of great trails to ride with great weather. I am looking forward to a great time of fellowship, Bible study and fun!

I actually had a quick stopover in Bass Lake last week and took some shots from the 007 trail. Check em out below.

Hear is a view point on the climb on the way up

This is the logging road most of the climb is spent on

The very top section has a fair amount of technical rock stuff too it. This pic is the next section you enter into..... packed pine needles

This is the bottom of the middle section before crossing over the fire road to the last section, which I call disneyland.
The bottom section has burm turns galore, feels like you are on a roller coaster.... disneyland

Manmade obstacles are showing up more and more

The take off

The gap

The landing

So sign up by paying up, this trip will be a blast!

Sunday Cerro San Luis Ride

Going to shoot for a pre-church ride on San Luis mountain. Meet at the Marsh St. lot at 6:00 am. Route is negotiable. My initial thought is high lemon grove around once, then to the top, and then down. The route down is also up for debate. But Rock Garden does call out so sweetly every time I get to the top of the climb. Please leave a comment if you can make it.

Cascade Classic

Stephen is in Bend, Oregon this week racing in the Cascade Classic. Starts tonight and he is the first rider off in the prologue at 7:15 pm. He has one teammate with him and Dede is up there as director sportif, cook, and overall support. The field is stacked with all the North American continental pro teams and most top amateur teams from around the country. 6 stages with some mountainous terrain in the road races. Should be a great experience and hopefully he can hold his own against the big boys.
Should be able to follow results at Cyclingnews.com or VeloNews.

U23 nationals were about a month ago. Dede and I traveled with Steve to Bend as well for those. He had a good TT and Road Race finishing about 30th in both. Road race was very tough with only about 35 of the 120 starters finishing in the main field. Steve tried to set up a teammate at the final sprint who managed top 15. Several domestic pros were there as they can ride the U23 nats and a strong contingent from Trek Livestrong and Garmin were the strongest teams.
Looking forward to riding with everyone soon. Haven't been in the saddle as much this year. Did get a nice ride in on my birthday up MacKenzie pass on my birthday when we were up in Oregon. Go Andy Schleck.
Ciao,
David

SLO to SB 2010

3rd annual SLO to Santa Barbara ride is next Friday July 2nd. If you are planning on riding, please weigh in here on the blog so we have an idea of who's coming. 6am rolling time. Start location is my house (5752 Pebble Beach Way -- SLO Country Club). Those of you who don't have someone picking you up in SB can ride the train back to SLO -- talk to Tim Thuele about this, he's done it for 2 years, I think the train leaves SB around 5:30. Bring a backpack to my house with a change of clothes and a swimsuit (hopefully we can swim at the hotel where I'm staying -- it's a great break after a long ride!!) and my wife will take it to SB for you. Make sure you bring some cash to buy food at the rest stops; Guatelupe, Lompoc, Gaviota(nothing to buy here), and Goleta. The ride ends at the pier in SB, 'no host' pizza after the ride!

"Linked" Cycling retreat - Bass Lake

Here's the deal..... The linked crew from down south and I have planned the second annual cycling retreat, this year in Bass Lake. Lindsey's parents were kind enough to donate their house to the cause and the neighbors gave a discounted rate as well in order to make this affordable for all of us. So in the end we have two large, lake front houses next door to each other and room for up to 40 guys. Between OC & SLO crews combined, we now have 35 committed already, so we have only 5 spots remaining for the SLO crew. Deadline for commitment is July 15th.

The cost will be around $150 ea., which will include the following: The two incredible lake front houses, All meals from Friday Lunch to Sunday lunch, Misc bike stuff for all to use (lube, tubes, cleaners, etc..), wakeboarding (houses have private docks on the water), shuttle service for those interested (there will be a couple "hospitality" guys there that dont even ride, but are willing to help out)........ and so on........

Check out this link:
http://www.linkedcycling.com/Movies_Photos/Pages/2010_Linked_Retreat.html

The crew had a great time out in LO last year and this year I think will be even better. It will be an opportunity to ride some incredible trails, meet lots of great guys who love the Lord and like to have a fun time together, dig into the word together, wake board, hike, etc..........

The date of the event is the weekend of Oct 15. We need to know if you are interested in going by July 15th in order to hold a spot, otherwise the evergrowing OC crew is sure to snatch the rest of them up!

Hope to have a good SLO group there this year...... Please comment to the post to express your interest/commitment.
