SB ride update
Just a few last details for next weeks ride... Meeting place is my house: 5752 Pebble beach Wy in the SLO country club estates (tell the guard at the gate you are coming to my house), there is plenty of parking in the cul de sac where I live if you are driving here. Rolling time is 6:30 sharp! If you are the type to be late then never mind 6:30, your time is 6:00! If you want to chat it up with the guys while you prep, then your time is 6:00. Bring enough $$ to get food on the way, get food in SB and take care of any other needs you might have?? You will probably want to change your clothes in SB prior to your return (or at least anyone you are coming back with will want you to change), just bring a backpack with your stuff and leave it in my SUV, Karen will bring it down when she comes. There are 3 ways to get home; train, have someone pick you up, ride your bike back(good luck finding takers for this). The train has a few times coming back, around 3:30 and around 5:30, if you plan to ride the train you are responsible for researching your options, purchasing a ticket etc... If I were riding the train back, I'd pre-purchase my ticket (I'm anal -- I'm a dentist -- what would you expect..) As a reminder, we will make 4 stops before we reach the SB Wharf: Guadelupe(gas store), Lompoc(longer stop for food fueling - we stop at a starbucks but there is also a gas station convenience store nearby), Gaviota(no store avail.), Goletta(starbucks and other food). Remember to bring 2 water bottles(preferably full to start), money, your phone, gels, bars, pills, syringes... Dress with layers, typically we have rolled with over-cast skies and ridden into the sun -- be prepared for both. In the past we have taken a swim at my hotel but this year our group is bigger and the hotel can't accommodate this -- sorry. We have had a tradition of eating pizza at Rusty's down near the wharf and that is still very much on -- you may be surprised at how much pizza you'll be able to consume after a 110 mile ride. If you need any other info about this ride, please contact me directly. This is a great ride that we have really enjoyed in the past, let's keep the tradition and fun going... See you on the 17th

Anyone up for a quickie Madonna tomorrow at 7:15 after the 6:00 AM Men's Study tomorrow?
I'll throw my mountain bike in the truck in case anyone wants to hit it. I've got a 9:00 dentist appointment.

TdF Cardio Challenge
Rabbit had a brainchild yesterday. . . .
I'm committed to doing at least 45 minutes of some cardio for every day/stage of the Tour de France . . . biking, running, whatever. On the days they rest, I rest. On the days they ride, I do something for at least 45 minutes.
Here's how its gone for me so far. . . .
Saturday: MTB at Lopez with Jeff Martin at 6:30 AM
Sunday: ran my hilly street for 45 at 3:00 PM
Monday: rode road to Cayucos with Mike Grainger at 6:30 AM
Tuesday: ran my hilly street at 5:10 AM
Wednesday: plan to ride Prefumo to Old Port at 12:15 (see last post)
Lots of the tour still to go. Not too late to jump in. I think Torque is in. Anyone else?

Ride Plan: Saturday, January 24 AM
Doc Morton and I have a plan to meet at the High Mountain Road parking lot outside Lopez at 6:30 AM for a little Saturday morning MTB around the campground and lake.
He's never been out there.
Anybody else want to join us?
BTW, Couldn't make it this morning for the road, but snuck out later in the morning for a little Madonna X2. It was raining. It was mellow. Just me and my ipod and the spinning pedals. Good times.

the fellowship is cracking. . . me no like solo. . .
and other thoughts
Rode Turri backwards today alone about 7:30 AM, just to keep the rhythm . . . didn't really enjoy it, despite the ipod. . . .
Made me realize I need to crew to go longer and faster. I'm better with others in cycling . . . and in life. I know Jens does it, but I don't think I could do more than 25 solo. . .
Summer is crazy. Lots of coming and going. I think its time to re-look at our schedules and, if necessary, redesign the ride schedule.
Torque is suggesting 4:00 AM rides for a while, since he needs to be at work until they hire a new foreman. If that's what it takes, I'm in. I could probably negotiate evening rides for awhile as well.
So, I am opening this topic for discussion . . . Let's get it fixed and then restarted.
Until we get it settled, I'll just keep fighting for every ride.
I can't go tomorrow. What's happening Wednesday? I'd like to go long on Friday, since I'm in Catalina and off the bike all next week.

Friday, 0613.08
sorry, boyz, I can't take Friday. Me and my lady are getting away for an overnighter.
Unless. . . . you want to just do a quick Turri loop?
I've got time for an 1 1/2 hour shortie . . . out by 5:30, back by 7:00 . . . meet at the Highland/Santa Rosa Cal Poly entrance.
I'm going, so comment if you're in. Otherwise someone else is welcome to take the lead on another ride.
Have a great weekend . . .

Friday June 6th: Pick to Dairy Creek
Did this ride with Iceman a week and a half ago and it was epic! There are many trails out there as offshoots of Pick n Shovel and this is the one we will go for this week.
Ride Details:
Meet at Poultry Unit 5:30 sharp.
Out and up Shooters over to Pick n Shovel
Down Pick taking the first right and following that all the way down to a fire road.
Turn left at fire road, ride for 1/2 mile then hook up with single track by lone standing oak tree on the right, takes ya down to the creek.
Creek crossings 1-6 or so end up on right side of creek at the end with the gate.
Find single track through grass and head out to El Chorro.
Back on the 1.
Ride time 3hrs, home by 830ish.
Total mileage: like 20ish
Lookin forward to the downhill that seems to go on forever!
Seeya boys.

From Steve about tomorrow's ride. . .
Meet at my house 6:00AM
Up Old Creek & back
Option of the big hill or not
I’m thinking 1.5-2 hours
I’m out of shape, so anyone concerned about hills—fear not, I’ll be at the back!
UPDATE: I'm leaving from my house at 5:30 am to be at Steve's by 6:00. The rumor is that Matt is joining me. Join us if you like. . . Rabbit
