Ride Report: Thursday, January 29

We had an epic ride this morning. Epic. I thought for a few moments we may have a route change when we awoke to a hallowing wind. Not too bad actually. All in all, we hammered out 30mi, 4500+ of elevation gain...with a 5:30am start and a 9:00am finish.

Highlights ...not a complete list:

1. Riding with Ryan (see picture). Ryan - you truly are an encouragement and yes, K.O.B.
2. Watching Levi spin effortless for 3 hours. You are in good form for sure.
3. Climbing Shooters after descending Morning Glory ...and then heading to pick and shovel. Sweet route.
4. The descents are fast fast fast.
5. No mechanicals. No flats.
6. Dairy creek was super super fun
7. Reflecting on God's mercies - they are new every morning.
8. Riding next to the Linked kits...they are sweeeet!

Bachelor Ride!

This Saturday it is looking like we are going to be having the official "Bachelor Ride" for Tech Express aka Jason. We're lookin to get rollin at the wonderful hour of 8 o'clock :) THe exact ride plan is not fully figured just yet, but I can say that Cerro Alto (the largest climb in the county) is included in the tentative plans!!! Ride will also be followed by some burgerness at Sylvester's. More details to come!

Thursday MTB Ride - 5:30am Poly Canyon

Posting on behalf of Levi....

Someone went into Levi's backyard and cut his internet access ...think it was a tree trimmer. Pretty classic. So here is the ride call...his ride call for tomorrow. Please note the later start. He seems to be catering to his "OC" guest...Mr. K.O.B. himself - Ryan Damato. Ryan's in town the next couple of days and he has been talking about putting the hurt on us up here for quite some time. He has promised to wear his white kit on the dirt complete with white socks. We are looking forward to fellowship with him. Hope some of you reading can make the ride:

5:30a.m. Poly Canyon

Route: Poly Canyon, Stagecoach, down MG, up Shooters, over to Pick and Shovel and down dairy creek. Go big or go home.

Please comment to RSVP...

1/27 Ride Report

Great ride this morning!
We are so spoiled with the trails we have such convenient access too.
(Although 5am rides in the dark is not really all that convenient....but worth it non the less)

Went up to top from Lincoln Market entrance
Down to ring, around and down Lemon Loop
Back up top from Marsh(Hurl Hill), then back down Lemon Loop.

Lap 1 = Sit Down Challenge (No standing)
Lap 2 = Stand Up Challenge (No sitting)
(Pics attached are the sunrise view each time we hit the top)
The stand up challenge was indeed challenging! Especially on the Enduro's.
2500 ft elevation gain.
1 1/2 Ride time.

Side Note: I think Torque never really woke up.........at least 1/2 asleep on the whole ride. Of course he still managed to cruise along hardly breathing and "legs aren't feeling a thing"........he's a machine these days!

Who's up for a quicky ride manana?

Ride Plan: Saturday, January 24 AM

Doc Morton and I have a plan to meet at the High Mountain Road parking lot outside Lopez at 6:30 AM for a little Saturday morning MTB around the campground and lake.

He's never been out there.

Anybody else want to join us?

BTW, Couldn't make it this morning for the road, but snuck out later in the morning for a little Madonna X2. It was raining. It was mellow. Just me and my ipod and the spinning pedals. Good times.

Mountain or Road: Thursday, January 22

With the rain forecasted for late Wednesday and all day Thursday, here are 2 ride alternatives.

Road
5:10 am
LOVR and Foothill
Route: To Turri and back (not around), Perfumo by 6:10ish, up Perfumo, down See Canyon, and .....
Riders:  Dan Woods may be in for the first hour (usually peels by 6:10 on Thursdays), Daniel Hudson (new member from Awana I met recently), who else?
Wet roads cancel the road ride
Please comment to RSVP

Note:  You can jump into the road ride at Perfumo and LOVR at about 6:10.  Please comment to confirm that is your plan so the train will pause at that point.  Let's say between 6:10 and 6:15 to be safe.

Mountain
5:15 am
Irish Hills
Route: All of Irish Hills and Laguna side of Madonna if not too muddy
Rain DOES NOT cancel the mountain ride
Please comment to RSVP

Road Ride Report_1.13.09

Twas a great morning ride Torque and I had this beauty of a morn.
We missed the rest of you being out there with us!
~55 miles (1 to Old Creek to 46 & back)

Best Parts
The fact that I actually woke up this morning! (been struggling in the mornings lately)
The fact that I was not the one running late for once!
The fellowship with Torque
The burn I am feeling right now
Warm out there, even before sunup
Beautiful sunrise and ocean views (God is so good in his creation!)
55 miles and home by 8am

Worst parts
The burn I am feeling right now
How out of shape my core is! My lungs were killing me and crampola's galore.
55 miles is only a little more than 1/3 of the total visalia to paso ride we will be doing in about a month!!!

Who's posting a ride for manana?????

Goose Death

Went to Lower Klamath Refuge on the border of Oregon and California the week after Christmas with a buddy who is the Student Ministries Pastor at Calvary SLO, Ben Potter.  We had a good amount of trigger therapy:)  Came back with 18 geese and a couple of ducks.

Ride with Columbia - Pier to Pier

Guys:

An exciting opportunity is approaching to ride with our SLO based Columbia Cycling Team on February 7. A fee of $100 (tax deductable) affords you a first time charity ride with the team and cash support to Alpha Pregnancy Center. The field is limited to 300 riders and has two different distances in the event being a metric century (60 miles) or half option. The ride begins in Avila and rides to Cayucos pier and back.

This is a good opportunity to participate in an organized ride with funds going to a great cause rather than just the event itself. Also, you get the opportunity to ride with the worlds largest male and female professional cycling teams.
I've linked some information for Alpha: http://www.sloalpha.org/page2.html.

Hopefully some of you can make it. Also, try to get the word out if you can...

Casual Friday Ride Report

I was told I could not post the ride update but it's almost 10pm and there is no update from any of the other peeps. I'll try to keep it to the facts: We rolled out around 5:28 (ahem) up Irish Hills left, drop down to canyon, and up to the top, and then back down. We seemed to be plagued with flats of late...and had to deal with an Enduro front flat...not the easiest tire to change ...but we managed. Met up with Tyler....the Future....at 6:30 and hammered up Laguna side of Madonna, down and around.

Here are some pics from the ride:
